Chapter 5: Environment
The Bay Area has long prided itself on the natural riches and scenic destinations that can be found throughout all nine Bay Area counties.
Chapter 5: Environment
Though climate change and earthquakes may transform the region in the coming decades, bold actions during the next 30 years can ensure that the natural environment is protected from hazards and that access to the Bay Area’s natural beauty is accessible to all.
Plan Bay Area 2050 prioritizes the protection and maintenance of land, air and water in Bay Area communities through strategies that conserve and better use current resources, mitigate climate change effects, and adapt to hazardous climate or seismic events. Together, the strategies expand access to parks and open space, reduce climate emissions from vehicles, and reduce risks from hazards.
